Chapter 11 - What I Didn't Tell You

What I didn't tell you a few weeks ago was that, because of a shipping mix-up, my books prepping me for the festival ended up being routed to Florida and then back to South Carolina. So instead of having 4 weeks to read books by the authors I was planning to see I was down to about a week before the big day. But, of course, that didn't stop me from reading other books. While peeved about the shipping issue, I read some really terrific books in the interim.

The books below are how I spent my time while planning for the festival.

An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen - I received this in Advanced Reader form while I was in Baltimore earlier this year. Hendricks and Pekkanen wrote The Wife Between Us so I was very excited to get my hands on this their latest novel. The authors didn't disappoint and told this story of a young woman who forces her way into an ethics study quite well.

Four Funerals and Maybe a Wedding by Rhys Bowen - Bowen writes some mysteries as well as general fiction books and Four Funerals and Maybe a Wedding is one of Her Royal Spyness series books. Georgiana, 34th in line to the British throne, is often called on by the royal family to do a little sleuthing. Bowen's 1930's era series continues to please.

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford - The story of two friends, a Chinese-American boy and a Japanese-American girl who become friends at the start of America's entry into World War II. Although separated by family and internment camps, they find each other after many years.

Behind the Mask by Dana Ridenour - Dana Ridenour, a former FBI agent, tells of a young FBI with her first undercover assignment infiltrating The Animal Liberation Front. Ridenour makes the reader consider the role of the undercover agent - to make friends to betray them. Dana is going to be Bookend's guest author for the April 6 Meet and Greet.
