Chapter 6 - Read Harder Part Three

So if you are ready for round three of reading harder, here are some more suggestions for the remaining Reading Challenge categories.

Read a Book Becoming a Movie - There are a surprising number of books to movies this year, at least 25 by my last count and that is only the ones which have been announced. Some recommendations for this category are Where'd You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple, Pet Sematary by Stephen King and The Rosie Project by Graham Simsion.

Read a Non-Fiction Book - I do love non-fiction so I am looking forward to this category. May I suggest Educated by Tara Westover, Southern Discomfort by Tena Clark, Leonardo DaVinci by Walter Isaacson or Things That Matter by Charles Krauthammer.

Read a Book About Books (or book stores) - This is fun category for me so here are my picks. Try Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan.

Read a Western - This pulls a lot of people out of their comfort zone but here are some good suggestions - One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus, News of the World by Paulette Jiles, True Grit by Charles Portis, Independence! by Dana Fuller Ross.

Read a Collection of Short Stories - I like short stories that interconnect but you can't always find this. Here are some books of short stories I've enjoyed - Dubliners by James Joyce (written in 1914 also qualifies for books over 100 years old category), Olive Kittredge by Elizabeth Strout, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, You Think It, I'll Say It by Curtis Sittenfeld.

Hope that helps you with the Bookends Reading Challenge this year!
